The graphic novel, Vicious Creatures, could not have been made without a Kickstarter campaign whose core stretch goal was burning a large wicker owl full of letters, poetry, and artwork, from the patrons who backed the project.
Ashes from the owl burning were then mixed into the ink used to make the remaining pages of the book.
